I covered two of them, <a href=\"\/photo-effects\/using-structure-reference-and-style-reference-in-adobe-firefly\/\" title=\"Learn more about Structure and Style Reference in Adobe Firefly\">Structure Reference and Style Reference<\/a>, in my previous tutorial.<\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s one option in Adobe Firefly called <strong>Visual Intensity<\/strong> that has the biggest impact on the amount of detail and complexity in the images. By default, Visual Intensity is set to 50 percent, which is why Firefly\u2019s results don\u2019t always look as detailed or as impressive as you might expect. <\/p>\n<p>In this tutorial, I show you where to find Visual Intensity in Firefly and how to adjust it. And we\u2019ll try out a few prompts to see how the Visual Intensity setting affects the results, including how to add more detail and drama to your images, or create more simplistic and less detailed images when you need them.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"sub\">How to access Adobe Firefly<\/h2>\n<p>To use Adobe Firefly\u2019s text-to-image generator, open your web browser and visit the Firefly website (<a href=\"https:\/\/firefly.adobe.com\/\" title=\"Go to the Adobe Firefly website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">firefly.adobe.com<\/a>). With Visual Intensity at 50 percent, the initial results don\u2019t look too bad. <\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s one of the results. We have our cat, sitting on a window ledge, looking out the window. <\/p>\n<p>But I wouldn\u2019t say that this image is all that interesting. The cat looks realistic but the window looks fairly generic. Also, it\u2019s tough to see what the cat is looking at through the window because everything outdoors is blurred out.<\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pe-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/adobe-firefly\/visual-intensity\/adobe-firefly-visual-intensity-50-example.jpg\" alt=\"One of the initial Firefly results with Visual Intensity at 50 percent.\" width=\"709\" height=\"553\" \/>\n<div class=\"image-desc\">One of the initial Firefly results with Visual Intensity at 50 percent.<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"sub\">Lowering Visual Intensity to simplify the images<\/h2>\n<p>You can drag the Visual Intensity slider to the right to increase the amount of detail and complexity in Adobe Firefly\u2019s images. <\/p>\n<p>But before we do that, I\u2019m going to reduce Visual Intensity to its lowest setting by dragging the slider all the way to the left.<\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pe-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/adobe-firefly\/visual-intensity\/visual-intensity-0-percent.png\" alt=\"Lowering Visual Intensity in Adobe Firefly\" width=\"363\" height=\"232\" \/>\n<div class=\"image-desc\">Lowering Firefly\u2019s Visual Intensity setting.<\/div>\n<p>I\u2019ll keep the same prompt and click <strong>Generate<\/strong> again.<\/p>\n<p>This time, with Visual Intensity lowered, we get results that are even less detailed than what we started with. The cat still looks okay but there\u2019s really nothing else going on in this image. The window is about as simple as it could be, and there\u2019s even less to look at outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to note that Firefly\u2019s Visual Intensity setting has nothing to do with the <a href=\"\/photo-editing\/upscale-photos-to-4x-with-super-resolution-in-adobe-camera-raw\/\" title=\"How to upscale images with Super Resolution in Adobe Camera Raw\">resolution of the image<\/a>. <q>Less detail<\/q> does not mean <q>lower resolution<\/q>. In fact, the resolution has not changed. Instead, Firefly has generated a simplified version of the image with fewer visual elements.<\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pe-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/adobe-firefly\/visual-intensity\/adobe-firefly-visual-intensity-0-example.jpg\" alt=\"The Adobe Firefly result with Visual Intensity lowered.\" width=\"709\" height=\"553\" \/>\n<div class=\"image-desc\">Same prompt but with Visual Intensity lowered.<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"sub\">Increasing Visual Intensity for more detail<\/h2>\n<p>Now that we\u2019ve tried lowering the Visual Intensity setting, I\u2019ll increase Visual Intensity to its highest setting by dragging the slider all the way to the right.<\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pe-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/adobe-firefly\/visual-intensity\/visual-intensity-100-percent.png\" alt=\"Increasing the Visual Intensity setting in Adobe Firefly\" width=\"363\" height=\"235\" \/>\n<div class=\"image-desc\">Increasing the Visual Intensity setting.<\/div>\n<p>Again I\u2019ll keep the same prompt and click <strong>Generate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This time, with Visual Intensity increased, Firefly generates much more interesting and dramatic results. In this example, the window is more detailed, there\u2019s a mountain landscape scene outdoors that wasn\u2019t there before, and even the lighting is better. <\/p>\n<p>So again it\u2019s not a matter of increasing the resolution. All three results we\u2019ve looked at share the same resolution. I\u2019ll show you how to change that in a moment.
